Welcome to San Antonio, a city that loves to preserve its past.


Built in 1859, the historic Menger Hotel provided me with a memorable visit.


Staying at the Menger is like sleeping over in a museum!


Here is a view of the second lobby...


My room, # 2020, was just around the corner from Lillie Langtry's suite.
 

Let's take a peek into the Colonial Room before I sit down to a nice dinner...

 

 





The Menger Bar has been the watering hole for some very famous personalities...
 

The Riverwalk boat tours depart from the Rivercenter Shopping Mall and take you on a 30 minute tour of the entire complex.

 

 




 

The Riverwalk snakes along through the downtown area without interfering with the street traffic above...

 

 





Like other cities, San Antonio is proud of its old theatres like the Majestic ....


... and the Aztec.


Lots of original neon ... and LOTS of Art Deco :-)
 

I was told to visit Schilo's Delicatessen (pronounced "Sheelo's"  not "Shylos" as I said by mistake in this video :-(

They make their own rootbeer and it is FANTASTIC!!
